Ahoy from Catalina!

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend! I thought I would take the time to share with you a mini adventure I went on over the weekend. As you can tell by the title, I took a sailing trip over to Catalina Island for the Catalina Island Wine Festival. We set sail out of Long Beach Harbor around 5am and took a 4 hour ride over to the island.

I had the opportunity to sleep in on Friday morning while we set sail, but there was no way I was going to miss disappearing into the ocean. It was cold, but I pushed through it with a few layers of socks, blankets and sweaters.

>> Note: I am quite surprised I handled the trip over very well. I had little to no sea sickness but my legs definitely took the fall. It has been two days and I am still swaying a bit.. <<

Look at this beauty!

The photo below is not the harbor we anchored at, but this gives you an idea of our “hotel” for 3 days. Yes, we ate and slept on the boat and it was amazing. I have needed to decompress and detached from life and reality. I could not think of a better way as this did the trick!

>> Eat, drink and be merry… and we did just that. <<

The Catalina Wine Festival was located on Two Harbors. The photo above is one side, where the festival was hosted. You are able to walk to the other side, where the other harbor is located and I am glad we had the time to do so. It is more secluded but it’s beautiful. The walk over was filled with lush landscaping with nothing in its way. There is something about untouched land that fills my mind with such wonderment and joy.

>> I am thinking about taking the shuttle boat over for a day to go hiking…  But the only roadblock in my way might be a Buffalo named Wilson…  <<

I wasn’t able to take many photos of the wine festival due to trying all the wines of course, but I was able to get a group photo of our crew! Each of these lovely couples below are good friends with my friends Aunt and Uncle in whom brought us on the trip with them. Each one of them was kind enough to have us on their boat for either dinner, happy hour, or both! They are such kindhearted people and the best thing of all… we all enjoyed the weekend together and the beauty that surrounded us! Life just could not of gotten any better in those moments..

To top it off, on the ride back to reality, I got to see what I had been hoping to see. There were two schools of dolphins that crossed in front and behind our boat. Due to my excitement, I almost was not able t0 capture any photos as I could barely move…

>> I have the boat to thank for my legs and my excitement for my hands. <<

Everything happens for a reason and I was meant to capture just one good photo to relive for a lifetime.

With Love,

<<<< Before I forget >>>>

Cheers to what now might be my favorite drink…

+ Half shot of creme de cocoa (dark or light)
+ Half shot of kalua
+ Half shot creme de banana
+ One shot of vodka
