My Little Birthday Soiree Outfit & Makeup – Rooftop at The Nolen

“Another year older and another year wiser. I feel stronger, more valuable, and most importantly, I feel loved.”

Overall, I feel lucky, and what does one do when they feel like a hundred bucks? They dress like it. Thinking back for as long as I can remember, I have never been one for really dressing up for birthdays. It’s not that I didn’t want to or didn’t have things planned, but as I am a pretty laid back gal, I usually remain low-key on my birthdays and I have always enjoyed it. This year was different. I was ready to gleam!

A month or so ago, I attended the Social Media Marketing World conference here in San Diego, and grabbed cocktails with another local blogger at The Nolen Rooftop Lounge downtown. I fell in love with the ambiance and as I knew my birthday was approaching rapidly, I decided to book a reservation for a little soiree.

The next important part of the planning was of course what I was going to wear. I bought this beautiful dress from Free People back in November and hadn’t worn it, so imagine my excitement to wear it for a special occasion like the birth of little ol’ me. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find this dress on ShopStyle Collective, the Free People website or even Google for that matter BUT… I was able to find alternative Free People dresses in a similar color and style for you to take a gander at!

If I were Cinderella, these would be my slippers. I found these pumps at Guess and instantly fell in love. You will find below the same style pumps in different colors, along with other styles I feel would match perfect with the dress(s) above.

(Apparently I fall in love often, especially when I describe things on the blog.. But I mean after all, the blog is named Love and Mimosas. Where is my mimosa!?)

Honestly, creating a post on my birthday celebration was not on my mind, but as I had a good friend take photos for me, I thought I would go ahead and share! I was not able to get any decent shots of my face/makeup, but if you were curious as to the products I used for my soiree look or my every day look in general, you can do so now!

LANCÔME TEINT IDOLE ULTRA 24H SPF 15 MAKEUP // For the perfect complexion (an for my face to remain fresh looking all night), my go-to foundation is this gem. It covers blemishes, imperfections, but most importantly, keeps my face matte!

RIMMEL LONDON STAY MATTE PRESSED POWDER // To be on the safe side, I like to add another lightweight mattifying pressed powder over top of the foundation. The last thing I want on my birthday is my face to look like the cake..

NARS BRONZING POWDER // To look like a goddess on your birthday, you have to call to the bronzing gods. This has been my favorite bronzing powder for years and will remain my favorite for years to come.
HOURGLASS AMBIENT LIGHTING PALETTE // To add a slight touch of glimmer to face, this is my rock. I love to apply this softly to the tops of my cheek bones and my cupids bow.
RIMMEL LONDON SOFT KOHL KAJAL EYE PENCIL // I wanted to go easy on the eyes, but to add a little definition, I added this smooth kajal eye pencil to my upper and lower lash line.
URBAN DECAY ‘PERVERSION’ MASCARA // Last but not least, my holy-grail mascara! I was feeling a little flirty, so I had to pair the right mascara for the job.

Overall, my evening at The Nolen just might be my most memorable birthday yet but there are so many more to come! It was an evening full of great company, a beautiful venue and even better cocktails! A huge thank you to the staff at The Nolen for all their hard work in making my party feel welcomed and always keeping drinks in their hands! Cheers!

With Love,
