Making Memories in Paradise

I recently had to say goodbye to my younger sister who had been visiting me the last two weeks. I’ve noticed that the older I get, the harder it is for me to say goodbye as my heart (versus my head) aches the most >> My heart grows bigger and bigger by the minute I swear! On another note, I have lived in San Diego for 7 years but with my sister visiting, my life felt reborn in this city… but I still knew exactly where to go for fun!

There is no doubt that while my sister was visiting, we spent a lot of time at the beach. Well… at least when the sun was out. The June Gloom hit us hard this year. This one spot in particular, is a secluded beach near Sunset Cliffs. The travel down is a bit steep, as you basically scale a cliff… but considering the view, it is well worth it. You are surrounded by nothing but the cliff(s), sand, and the ocean flowing towards you.

>> Time to dig deep >>

It is sad to say, but it’s been years since I have spent so much time with my younger sister. The last few years I have only been able to make it home once per year due to my crazy work/life schedule. Finding the balance is difficult as we all knowOne lesson I have learned since I moved away from home, is time is precious and to make the most of it while you can. As my sister and I grew older, I started noticing a sense of disconnection because of the distance between us. The moment I realized that, I knew something needed to be done which enticed the motivation to get her out to the West Coast!

The one thing I cherish most about spending time with her… is realizing we are so much alike. We are still the same bubbly, goofy girls we always have been, and always will be. This is something that I have always known, but not something that I have been around for quite some time. I see so much of myself in her… and it is so inspiring and heartwarming to be her bigger sister. It makes me so proud to be her role model, which is what has motivated me to get where I am today. If it wasn’t for her, who knows where my life could be today.

The bond between sisters is impeccable. We didn’t care what we did, as long we were by each others side. All the doubt and over analyzing I have created over the years on the relationship between the two of us, disappeared the minute I hugged her at the airport. That is truly one of the most life-changing feelings anyone could ever encounter. That is true enlightenment.

Over the last year, I have been the happiest I have been in 24 years of my life. As I look at myself in photos today versus over the last 7 years I have been away from home… I’ve noticed that I have been transformed. I have changed because of the vision and goals I have set for myself at a very young age, as well as the loving and strong support from my family. By believing in a better life for myself and those around me… I am attracting that life, and at full force! A life full of unlimited opportunities and memories!

With Love,
