There is no greater feeling than hitting the open road (or air).
There is no doubt that I love to travel. Most of my dream travel destinations are miles away from San Diego, but what I often forget is the number of beautiful places to see here in California along the Pacific Coast Highway. I have now traveled along the California Pacific Coast Highway twice; Once North to South (San Francisco to Los Angeles) and now South to North (Los Angeles to Monterey). With that being said, each trip has offered more and more iconic sights to see!
The trip going North to South was years before my blogging days. Therefore, during this past trip, I captured my the top 5 stops to visit along the California Pacific Coast Highway from Los Angeles to Monterey.
Road Trip: 5 Stops Along the California Pacific Coast Highway
I absolutely adore Downtown Santa Barbara! “Shop and Stroll” on State Street, the center jewel of downtown featuring eclectic boutiques, dining and hotels. Take State Street towards the beach where you can then drive on to Stearns Warf.
Pismo Beach is a quaint beach town, with a surfer vibe, located in San Luis Obispo County. Pismo Beach was just a pit stop for me, but it holds other activities that are perfect for visitors, such as:
- The Monarch Butterfly Grove
- Hearst Castle
Morro Rock is a sight to see! It can change colors depending on the type of day and the angle you are looking at it. In the early afternoon it resembles shades of brown, while during late afternoon, it resembles shades of gray and blue. It is hard to miss driving along the coast!
Be prepared for winding roads but endless ocean views. Get your selfie sticks ready as you’ll want thousands of photos to remember this by!
Monterey: Fisherman’s Warf
Save your appetite for fresh seafood and mini delights on the Fisherman’s Wharf. Lookout at the harbor and ocean life towards the back and grab a coffee at Water + Leaves tea and coffee shop!
